Overview
The National Law Journal featured Steptoe’s newly renovated Washington, DC office space in a July 7 article titled “Steptoe’s Office Comes to Life.” The article highlights many of Steptoe’s recent upgrades and special features in the firm’s flagship office including three living walls that stretch from the lobby to the next floor, several large modern art installations, an open-office design and layout on one floor, and a roof deck complete with a bocce court.
Reporter Katelyn Polantz writes: “A wall made of ferns and peace lilies! A self-adjusting white noise machine! A lifesize George Washington-esque sculpture made of wood, playing chess against a disembodied arm! Steptoe & Johnson LLP’s renovated office has got it all.”
Phil Malet, Steptoe’s vice chair, tells The National Law Journal it has all paid off. “It’s really changed most of our outlook on the office. It’s more open. It’s more light.”

The office renovation is also the featured story of The National Law Journal’s inaugural Washington Wrap Podcast (Steptoe’s office discussion begins at 3:35).
