Overview
The National Law Journal's review of the just-published Amlaw 100 annual survey shows DC law firms should expect to have consistent growth in 2022 and into 2023.
The article describes Steptoe & Johnson as 'the archetypal DC firm in terms of its practice spread, service offerings and culture' and reports on the firm's financial growth, reporting Gwen Renigar as saying Steptoe's total revenue rose 7% to $422 million, from $393.9 million the year prior. Notable areas of growth for the firm included commercial litigation, investigations, chemicals and life sciences, and telecommunications practices.
The article goes on to say that the management team is "cautiously optimistic" that its growth trajectory is sustainable over the long term. That confidence is based on not only its practice area spread and the talent of its lawyers but also some key strategic initiatives aimed at increasing the talent pool and deepening the firm's business expertise at every level—professional staff, associates, non-equity and equity partners alike.
