Overview
Steptoe associate Chris Suarez was quoted extensively in a Bloomberg Law article titled, "Patent Bar Braces for Federal Circuit Shift as Worker Cases Rise."
The article discusses a potential flood of federal worker appeals to the Federal Circuit that will be a "wake up call" for patent attorneys who've become accustomed to a mostly patent-focused docket at the court, now that the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board has a two-member quorum for the first time in five years.
According to Suarez, this will likely be the "biggest influx of cases" to the Federal Circuit since it saw a ramp-up of Patent Trial and Appeal Board decisions a few years ago.
