Overview
Politico's Morning Tax quoted George Callas in an October 9 article titled "Changes Ahead for Ways and Means." The article discusses how the House Ways and Means Committee is set for some big changes, no matter which party prevails in the November midterms. According to the article, there will be a host of new faces on the committee next year with four committee members retiring, three running for other political offices, and several others in tight re-election races.
Callas, House Speaker Paul Ryan's former top tax aide and a veteran of the Ways and Means staff, tells Politico that he doesn't think there will be any shortage of lawmakers angling for a seat on the committee, even with tax reform finally accomplished. "I wouldn’t consider Ways and Means to be any less attractive since tax reform," Callas says, adding it will remain "one of the most pre-eminent committees in Congress."
