Overview
Politico quoted Marlon Paz in an article titled, "Another crypto divide simmers on Capitol Hill."
The article examines a growing split within the crypto industry over how to interpret a key section of a new digital‑assets bill that could shape the future of tokenized stock trading and the SEC's authority over it.
Speaking to Politico about the divide, Paz said that the section is designed to solidify what many around and within the SEC have been saying for months: Tokenized stocks should be treated the same way that regular stocks are. The language, he added, makes clear that the bill is not infringing on the SEC’s power to offer firms the ability to avoid certain rules.
He goes on to say, "Tokenization itself doesn’t change the character of the thing. I see this as a net positive advancing the ball, providing quite a lot of clarity and not at all a de facto ban."
