Overview
(August 8, 2025, Washington, DC) – Steptoe associate Dr. Santiago Gomez Cifuentes has been elected to the 2025–2026 Board of Directors of GATT DC, the largest Washington-based organization uniting diverse international trade professionals in law, Congress, multilateral organizations, and international diplomacy.
In this role, Santiago will help guide GATT DC's strategy, oversee financial governance, and lead academic programming. He will also spearhead partnerships with leading trade organizations – including CITBA, WIIT, NFTC, and WITA.
Santiago advises private and sovereign clients on trade and tax matters, including antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings, customs law, and US trade-related authorities. He also counsels on supply chain credits and international tax issues such as transfer pricing, foreign tax credits, and cross-border reorganizations.
Prior to joining Steptoe, Santiago served as Head of Congressional Affairs at the Embassy of Colombia, securing over $400 million in US appropriated funds and leading coalitions to advance trade and fiscal policy. He is a Loretta Collins Argrett Fellow of the ABA Tax Section and a member of its Outreach and Inclusion Committee.
