In a filing today, the Associated Press and Meltwater News Service announced that they had settled the copyright infringement suit brought by the AP against the news aggregator. In an ruling in March, Judge Cote had granted the AP's motion for summary judgment and rejected Meltwater's argument that its service was "fair use." Rather than appeal the decision, Meltwater agreed to settle, and the parties separately announced an "agreement to develop new and innovative products based on AP’s world class content and Meltwater’s deep technical expertise in online media analytics
