In a press release today, the National Music Publishers' Association announced that it has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Fullscreen, Inc., a company that operates a network of YouTube "channels" that allegedly attract hundreds of millions of subscribers. According to the press release, Fullscreen "is a multi-million dollar company that produces, markets, promotes and exploits videos, including music videos, on YouTube. Fullscreen directly profits from advertising revenue generated by unlicensed music videos on their channels but does not compensate songwriters or music publishers." At the same time, the NMPA announced a settlement with another YouTube network, Maker Studios. According to the press release, "NMPA’s settlement with Maker will enable music publishers and their songwriting partners to be compensated for past infringement and license Maker going forward." The complaint in the Fullscreen action has not yet been posted to Pacer.
