Seventh Circuit Denies Challenge to Irregular Tax Assessments: Today, the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit ruled that an equal protection challenge to a county property tax assessment scheme was barred by the comity doctrine. The plaintiffs alleged that the county had failed to reassess property values for more than a decade and subsequently conducted assessments only for a particular township while not reassessing property values in the rest of the county.
