Overview
(July 6, 2023, London) — Steptoe & Johnson LLP has expanded its international arbitration practice with the addition in its London office of Zach Song. Zach's arrival continues the steady investment in talent of Steptoe's international arbitration team, which added Jonathon Egerton-Peters earlier this year.
"Zach's broad industry knowledge, international background, rich experience, and client base complement our existing international arbitration work and will help us continue to provide strategic advice and counsel to our clients across Asia," said Steptoe Chair, Gwen Renigar. "I'm delighted to welcome him to the firm."
Zach Song is a New York qualified lawyer with substantial experience in conducting international arbitrations. He is experienced in disputes covering areas of construction and commercial related matters. He has handled arbitration matters before arbitral institutions such as the LCIA, ICDR, ICC, SCC, SIAC, as well as ad hoc tribunals. Among his matters, Zach has handled disputes regarding delay and joint venture issues in construction projects, claims and negotiations during the contract administration phase, and various commercial issues arising out of the sale of commodities. He is a member of the Society of Construction Law (Singapore), a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a registered panel arbitrator of the Thailand Arbitration Center and the Xi’an Arbitration Commission.
Zach commented: "Steptoe has a strong brand reputation in Asia and I am delighted to join such an internationally renowned firm. I look forward to bringing the breadth and depth of Steptoe’s offerings to my existing and prospective clients."
Steptoe has a well-established global arbitration practice. It is currently advising the European Union on its US$10 billion Nord Stream 2 dispute, representing Koch Supply & Trading, LP (KS&T) and Koch Industries, Inc. in a NAFTA Chapter Eleven claim against the Government of Canada, and representing West African Aquaculture in an ICSID arbitration brought pursuant to Gambia’s national law on international investment.
