Overview
(May 23, 2019, Washington, DC) — Steptoe hosted Green Drinks DC on its green roof in Washington on May 22 for a fundraiser event supporting the Chesapeake Legal Alliance (CLA), an organization dedicated to restoring the Chesapeake Bay and the health of its communities. The crowd of 60+ individuals gathered on Steptoe's 9th floor rooftop terrace for an evening of unforgettable views, stimulating conversation, and delectable refreshments provided by Seasons Culinary, which operates Steptoe's in-house café and catering services.
Steptoe Chair Phil West provided opening remarks about the firm's partnerships with the CLA, as well as Veteran Compost and Up Top Acres. These latter two companies help Steptoe recycle food waste from the Seasons kitchen into soil, some of which is used in planter boxes on the firm's terrace to grow herbs and lettuce for the kitchen.
Steptoe partner Tom Barba is a member of the CLA's board of directors, and several lawyers at the firm contribute pro bono legal hours to a number of the organizations CLA helps. Steptoe legal executive assistant Philip Bogdonoff played an instrumental role in organizing the event.
