Steptoe made significant gains on the 2017 Midlevel Associate Survey conducted by The American Lawyer. The firm jumped to #11 on the list from last year’s spot at #75. The annual survey examines several aspects of job satisfaction for third-, fourth- and fifth-year associates. They include compensation and benefits, training and guidance, interaction with partners and other associates, the interest and satisfaction level of the work, the firm's policy on billable hours and management's openness about firm strategies and partnership chances. Midlevel associates graded their workplaces on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest score.
