(November 17, 2025, Washington, DC) – Steptoe is proud to announce that partner Sarah Gordon has been appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society (ARIAS-US), effective November 14.
ARIAS-US is the leading nonprofit trade association dedicated to improving the insurance and reinsurance arbitration process for both domestic and international markets. Since its founding in 1994, ARIAS-US has certified a pool of qualified arbitrators and provided training and continuing education to promote fair, efficient, and cost-effective dispute resolution in the industry.
Sarah Gordon leads Steptoe’s top-tier Insurance & Reinsurance practice and maintains a comprehensive litigation practice covering insurance and reinsurance, commercial litigation, and professional liability. She has extensive experience representing insurers and reinsurers in complex arbitration, including disputes involving treaty interpretation, claims management, premium, and aggregation of risk.
Sarah’s appointment reflects her longstanding commitment to excellence in arbitration and her leadership within the insurance and reinsurance legal community. She has previously served in various leadership roles within ARIAS-US, including as a Board member, as co-chair of the Women’s Resource Committee, and as co-chair of numerous conferences.
As Chairperson, Sarah will help guide ARIAS-US in its mission to enhance the arbitration process through ethical and procedural guidelines, educational programming, and industry engagement.
