(April 17, 2025, Washington, DC) – Steptoe LLP partner Shannen Coffin has joined Washington Legal Foundation's (WLF) Legal Policy Advisory Board. WLF is a national public-interest law firm and legal policy center. Their mission is to defend American free enterprise by litigating, educating, and advocating for a free market, a limited and accountable government, individual and business civil liberties, and the rule of law. The board is a group of over 40 distinguished professionals from the business, legal, academic, and public-policy communities who serve on a volunteer basis.
Shannen Coffin commented: "I am thrilled to join the Washington Legal Foundation's Legal Policy Advisory Board. The opportunity to collaborate with such a distinguished group of professionals on the WLF board is truly an honor. I look forward to bringing my experience in constitutional, regulatory and appellate matters to help advance WLF's important initiatives and to promote the Rule of Law in the American legal system."
Shannen co-chairs Steptoe LLP’s Appeals and Advocacy practice. He frequently represents regulated businesses in trial and appellate courts in matters involving commercial disputes, constitutional and administrative law challenges to government regulatory action. Shannen served as Counsel to the Vice President of the United States from 2005 to 2007 and as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Federal Programs Branch of the US Justice Department’s Civil Division from 2002 to 2004.
WLF Executive Director Glenn G. Lammi said: "We are honored to have Shannen join our advisory board. He is very well versed in the areas of law and policy that WLF works on regularly and has a very keen sense for the intersection of advocacy in the courtroom and consistent, determined education of the legal establishment and the public outside the court. We look forward to many years of his wise counsel."
