(April 14, 2023, Washington, DC) – Steptoe has received the Beacon of Justice Award from the National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA). Honorees are recognized for their efforts to address issues related to LGBTQ+ rights and/or gender-based equity issues that intersect with racial equity. The NLADA is America's oldest and largest nonprofit association devoted to excellence in the delivery of legal services to those who cannot afford counsel. The Beacon of Justice awardees will be celebrated at the 2023 NLADA Exemplar Awards Gala on June 8.
NLADA President & CEO April Frazier Camara said: "When the corporate community speaks, the world listens. When they act, the world responds. So, when they use their collective voices to advance racial equity, gender equity, and LGBTQ+ rights its impact is felt across the globe. We are proud to honor each of the 21 firms who have demonstrated excellence in the fight to ensure access to justice and equity within the legal system."
Steptoe has a longstanding commitment to pro bono work that advances LGBTQ+ and gender-based equity and racial justice.
