Overview
(June 27, 2025, Washington, DC) – Steptoe LLP is proud to be recognized once again as a platinum-level donor in the D.C. Access to Justice Commission's 2024 Raising the Bar in D.C. Campaign. This distinction honors firms that contribute at least 0.11% of their D.C. office revenue to local legal services providers, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to ensuring access to justice for all District residents.
In 2024, 34 firms participated in the campaign, collectively donating $5.6 million to support civil legal services. Steptoe has been a platinum-level participant since the campaign’s inception in 2010, consistently supporting organizations that provide critical legal assistance in areas such as housing, domestic violence, immigration, and public benefits.
Speaking to Law360, Steptoe chair Gwen Renigar said: "As legal nonprofits face rising costs and funding uncertainties, it becomes a greater imperative for the private sector to support the organizations. A large number of residents would have no access to legal representation without the strong work of all of the local pro bono and legal service organizations that serve them, and it is important for us that we support the local community and our neighbors."
Steptoe remains deeply committed to advancing justice through both financial contributions and pro bono service, reinforcing our belief that access to justice is a fundamental right.
