Overview
(July 1, 2026, Washington, DC) – Steptoe LLP is proud to be recognized once again as a platinum-level donor in the DC Access to Justice Commission's 2025 Raising the Bar in DC Campaign. This distinction honors firms that contribute at least 0.11% of their DC office revenue to local legal service providers, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to ensuring that every individual in the District of Columbia, regardless of income, has equal access to justice.
Among the core missions of the DC Access to Justice Commission is to encourage funding for local civil legal services. The Raising the Bar in DC campaign, which recognizes financial support provided by area law firms, is the Commission's signature effort for private funding.
In 2025, 32 firms participated in the campaign, collectively donating $5.83 million to support civil legal services. "Lack of access to legal help is an urgent crisis in the District," said James J. Sandman, Chair of the DC Access to Justice Commission. "Demand has always exceeded the supply of legal help available for low- and moderate-income District residents, and need continues to rise."
Steptoe has been a platinum-level donor since the campaign first launched in 2010, demonstrating a deep commitment to advancing justice and reinforcing our belief that access to justice is a fundamental right.
