Overview
(October 4, 2021, Washington) — Steptoe has received the Asian Legal Business (ALB) award for the 2021 "Japan Practice Foreign Law Firm of the Year." The firm was named the winner of the award at the ALB Japan Law Firm awards ceremony held virtually on September 30.
Asian Legal Business, owned by Thompson Reuters, is a leading multi-media channel for the legal industry across the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East regions. The ALB Japan Awards are based on nominations received from Japan-focused corporate counsel and legal professionals around the world, to highlight an outstanding performance of private practitioners and in-house counsel in Japan. In determining the winners for the Foreign Law Firm of the Year award, the judging panel considered submissions from international law firms without a representative office in Japan, but actively involved in advising Japanese businesses worldwide.
Steptoe has a long-standing commitment to developing relationships with the legal community in Japan, and representing Japanese businesses to support their international growth strategy, advising on international trade and regulatory compliance issues, and vigorously defending their interests in the US and European courts. The firm has had a presence in Asia for more than a decade, and opened its Beijing office in 2010. An office in Hong Kong opened in 2020.
