Overview
(May 16, 2019, Chicago) — Steptoe & Johnson LLP is pleased to announce that Adie Olson has joined the firm's Government Affairs & Public Policy Group. Based in Chicago, Olson will focus her practice on ethics, campaign finance, and pay-to-play compliance at the local, state, and federal levels. Joining Olson in her move to Steptoe is attorney Jennifer Jackson, who has worked closely with Olson for the past five years.
Olson represents corporations with political law compliance issues. Most of her clients are large corporations in highly regulated industries such as energy, insurance and pharmaceuticals. Olson assists corporations in developing and implementing comprehensive political compliance policies and procedures. As both their national and regional counsel, Olson represents corporations on matters including lobbying registration and reporting, PACs, corporate political contributions, conduits, independent expenditures, procurement lobbying and "pay-to-play" compliance, public records disclosure, and external enforcement actions. Additionally, Olson performs comprehensive internal corporate audits including federal and state political action committees, overall corporate government affairs policy and practice assessments, and lobbying/ethics audits. Her practice covers the federal level and all 50 states.
In welcoming Olson, Steptoe Chair Phil West commented: "Adie's significant experience in political law counseling makes her an excellent addition to our growing Campaign Finance and Political Law practice team. She will add depth to our lobbying compliance and campaign finance capabilities and will continue to provide clients with the first-rate service for which she is known."
Olson added: "Bringing my practice to Steptoe, a firm whose roots in the nation's capital stretch back more than seven decades, is a great opportunity. I am excited to bring my particular knowledge to the firm's well-established clients whom the firm also represents on the Hill and before regulatory agencies."
Steptoe's Government Affairs & Public Policy Group helps clients navigate the challenges posed by the interplay of laws, public policy, regulation, competition, and economic trends across the fields regulated by the federal government, state and local jurisdictions, and the European Union. The bipartisan team includes professionals with decades of experience working in and with the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government.
Olson earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from Marquette University and her B.S., with highest honors, from the University of Wisconsin. She serves as a board member of Legal Action of Wisconsin and on the global advisory board of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum.
