Overview
Simon Hirsbrunner was interviewed by the German-language Swiss radios SRF and Radio Top concerning state aid control and Swiss-EU relations. Hirsbrunner shared his views on the potential consequences of state aid control provisions in the proposed Swiss-EU institutional framework agreement that is currently subject to a political consultation in Switzerland. During the interview he warned of the consequences of state aid regulation for the ability of regional authorities to grant tax and other state incentives for inward investment. Moreover, he discussed how the introduction of state aid controls will have an impact on the way businesses currently operate, for example they will have to prove that they need state support and that they cannot finance investments by themselves.
