(July 11, 2023, Washington, DC) – Steptoe jumped 11 places in The American Lawyer’s 2023 Pro Bono Scorecard placing it amongst the top 20 pro bono law firms in the US. The firm ranks 18 in the national category and 32 in the international category.
In the national rankings, The American Lawyer ranks the Am Law 200 by their pro bono score for work performed by US-based lawyers. The scores are based on the average number of pro bono hours for US-based lawyers in 2022 and the percentage of lawyers handling at least 20 hours. Steptoe's US lawyers averaged 91.5 pro bono hours per lawyer, and 68.7% of lawyers completed 20 or more pro bono hours.
In the international rankings, The American Lawyer ranks Am Law 200 firms by their score for pro bono work performed by lawyers based outside the United States. Steptoe's international lawyers averaged 23.5 pro bono hours per lawyer, and 27.8% of lawyers completed 20 or more pro bono hours.
