The Impact of the EU’s Russia Sanctions on the Obligations under EU Chemicals Legislation

Eva Monard, Hannah Widemann, Elli Zachari have authored an article titled "The Impact of the EU’s Russia Sanctions on the Obligations under EU Chemicals Legislation" for the German language,  European Journal for Substances and the Law ("Zeitschrift für Stoffrecht" – "StoffRecht") published by Lexxion. The article highlights the impact of the EU's sanctions adopted in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on operators' compliance with existing obligations under EU chemical legislation (including the REACH Regulation and Biocidal Product Regulation). In particular, the authors discuss how the sanctions impact the obligations under these chemicals regulations, most notably on mandatory sharing of (vertebrate) animal studies and on the joint submission of data, and what due diligence steps companies might need to take.
