Overview
On June 12, 2023, The New Yorker quoted partner Paul Lee in an article, "Biden's Dilemma at the Border." The piece discusses the current political climate regarding immigration in the United States and the US' border with Mexico.
Paul spoke to The New Yorker about the current legal system in place, and how there is no right to counsel in immigration courts. He said: "…many asylum seekers with compelling stories of persecution fail because they are forced to argue their own cases. I have seen children—six, seven, and eight years old—have to stand up in front of a judge. A considerable proportion of migrants drop out before a decision is reached in their case. Many of them just disappear."
