Vern Buchanan to Serve as Tax Policy Subcommittee Chair:  House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) today announced the subcommittee chairmen and subcommittee assignments for Republican members of the Committee for the remainder of the 115th Congress. Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) will serve as chairman of the Subcommittee on Tax Policy. The other Republican members of the Subcommittee include:

Taxpayer Advocate Releases Annual Report:  The Office of the Taxpayer Advocate released its 2017 report titled, Purple Book: Compilation of Legislative Recommendations to Strengthen Taxpayer Rights and Improve Tax Administration. The report includes 50 legislative recommendations and identifies the 10 most litigated tax issues in federal courts and the National Taxpayer Advocate’s view of the 20 most serious problems encountered by taxpayers.

Miscellaneous Guidance Released:
Notice 2018-11 provides guidance on the corporate bond monthly yield curve, the corresponding spot segment rates under section 417(e)(3), and the 24-month average segment rates under section 430(h)(2). The notice also provides guidance as to the interest rate on 30-year Treasury securities under section 417(e)(3)(A)(ii)(II) as in effect for plan years beginning before 2008 and the 30-year Treasury weighted average rate under section 431(c)(6)(E)(ii)(I).
