Overview
(February 22, 2019, Washington, DC) — Steptoe & Johnson LLP partner Vishal Gupta has joined the 2019 Fellows Program for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). As a fellow, Gupta will participate in a landmark program created to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. Previous LCLD fellows from Steptoe include partners Brigida Benitez, Kendall Enyard, Tery Gonsalves, Michelle Levin, Tim Overton and Patricia Palacios.
Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 300 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. The LCLD Fellows Program, which has trained more than 1,600 mid-career attorneys since 2011, is one of LCLD's most important initiatives.
According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the program offers participants "a year-long, in-depth program devoted to relationship-building, in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD's top leadership and the best teachers in the business."
At Steptoe, Gupta focuses his practice on complex patent litigation, counseling, and intellectual property transactions in a wide range of technologies including pharmaceuticals, biologics, manufacturing processes, medical devices, and electromechanical apparatuses.
Last year, Gupta was named a "Rising Star" by the New York Law Journal. He has also been named to the New York Super Lawyers Rising Stars list every year since 2013 and has been ranked in IAM Patent 1000 for the past three years.
Gupta received his B.E. in Chemical Engineering and his M.E. in Chemical/Biomedical Engineering from Cooper Union. He earned his J.D. from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in New York.
