Overview
The Washington Post quoted Steptoe partner Darryl Nirenberg in an article titled "Justice Department Decision to Issue Legal Opinion Long Sought by Casino Magnate Sheldon Adelson Draws Criticism." The article, published February 7, discusses the Justice Department's decision to release a legal opinion reversing a 2011 interpretation of the Wire Act that effectively gave the states a green light to authorize lotteries and other forms of online gambling.
Nirenberg, an attorney and lobbyist for Adelson's Las Vegas Sands Corp., calls the new Justice Department opinion "well-reasoned" and "fastidiously researched."
"It appears to be crafted to stand the tests of the judiciary," he adds.
