Overview
WSJ Pro Cybersecurity quoted Charles Helleputte in an article titled "EU Regulators Seek to Extend Cybersecurity Rules to More Industries." The article, published December 17, discusses draft EU legislation known as the directive on network and information systems. The new bill designates cloud computing providers, data center operators and other sectors as critical infrastructure, requiring them to comply with mandated cybersecurity rules for the first time.
Helleputte says companies required to comply with the new law should assess their supply chains and understand their networks and technology systems so security teams will be able to quickly notify authorities about attacks. "That probably means not really an army of lawyers but an army of computer engineers and experts to start with," he adds.
