Overview
Dr. Kimberly Cassidy spent more than seven years as a regulatory reviewer in the Office of Food Additive Safety at the FDA, specializing in the review and evaluation of chemistry data for Food Contact Notifications (FCNs) and Pre-Notification Consultations (PCNs) submitted by industry, and the calculation of exposures to food-contact substances.
During her time at the FDA, Kim developed a new cumulative estimated daily intake and consumption factors for styrene polymers, updated the Divisions' Chemistry Recommendations, which serve as guidance to industry, and was responsible for the most current update from December 2007. She also served as project lead for the scientific working group meetings of the Wilson Center/GMA Nanotechnology Case Studies on Engineered Food Contact Materials and as co-chair of the planning committee for the Food and Color Additives/Dietary Supplements Breakout Session for the FDA Nanotechnology Public Meeting in September 2008.
