Now Focused on International Trade and Tariffs
On February 1, 2025, President Donald J. Trump announced the implementation of a 25% additional tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, with energy resources from Canada set to face a lower 10% tariff, and a 10% tariff on imports from China. On February 3, President Trump delayed imposing tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico by 30 days following announcements from both countries to address US concerns about immigration and illicit drugs. Tariffs on imports from China went into effect on February 4, and China immediately retaliated by imposing tariffs on US imports and taking regulatory actions against US companies.
