Crain’s Chicago Business featured Steptoe’s growing Chicago office in an April 25 article titled “When a Rainmaker Isn’t Enough.” The article discusses how many law firms are moving away from the model of recruiting one coveted lateral to a model of recruiting a ready-made bench of lawyers that is likely to bring a stable of clients.
In the first quarter of 2015, Steptoe added an eight-partner team in its Chicago office led by noted litigators Michael Dockterman and Bob Shuftan. The group brought several other lawyers and support staff members to keep the core practice intact.
“We absolutely wanted to stay together,” Mr. Shuftan says.
