Insurance Day quoted Steptoe Brussels partner Guy Soussan in a June 24 article titled “Future of Passporting Rights Key to London’s Survival as Gateway to Europe.” The article discusses the future of London’s role as a European base for international insurers being thrown into uncertainty following the UK vote to leave the EU.
Mr. Soussan says joining the European Economic Area was a potential solution to the passporting issue. “Such a solution will, at best, enable the UK to regain something akin to full membership of the EU but with the disadvantage of not giving the UK much ability to shape the future contours of the single market.”
