Overview
(July 2, 2025, New York) – Steptoe of counsel Joseph Sanderson has been appointed Chair of the New York City Bar Association's State Courts of Superior Jurisdiction Committee, effective September 1, 2025. As Chair, he will lead the committee's work, including issuing reports on issues affecting the New York state court system, commenting on proposed rule amendments and statutory changes, and CLE and networking initiatives.
Joseph represents clients in complex, high-stakes litigation and enforcement matters across trial and appellate courts and arbitration tribunals. His practice spans financial fraud, business torts, investor-state arbitration, and transnational litigation, including international judgment enforcement and discovery under 28 U.S.C. § 1782. He has advised clients in sectors ranging from energy and real estate to technology and insurance, and is currently involved in a nine-figure art insurance dispute that has drawn international attention. He also defends clients in mass torts, securities disputes, and government investigations, including matters involving the SEC, FTC, and FERC.
