Overview
On January 24, Law360 published an article, "Steptoe & Johnson Adds Sidley Energy Partner In DC." The piece discusses Marcil's work representing energy corporations in administrative judicial matters, impending industry changes, and her move to Steptoe.
Regarding her decision to join Steptoe, Marcil said: "It really is a firm that is at the forefront of the intersection of government and business and I just feel like that's more important than ever now, given the changes and the impending changes in the energy space and the high level of government activity in the energy industry. I just really wanted to be in a place where I could continue to provide that top, top level of service and that high level of collaboration with other leading lawyers in the space."
Marcil also discussed the impact of transition to alternative energy sources: "One of the big issues right now that really is still being sorted, and probably will be sorted for some time, are the jurisdictional questions. For example, as pipelines begin to move these alternative fuels is that something that's going to be regulated by the FERC or will it be regulated by the [Surface Transportation Board], so I think that's something clients are very interested in."
