On February 21, 2023, Law360 quoted Leigh Mallon in a piece titled "Meta Ruling Could Squeeze The Pipeline For UK Class Suits." The article discusses the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal's (CAT) decision to temporarily block a proposed collective proceeding accusing the tech company of exploiting Facebook users. CAT has ordered consumers to redraw their proposed £2.3 billion class action against Meta over unfair pricing. Commenting on the matter Mallon stated "Where a claim concerns the misuse of personal data, it is incumbent upon the claimant to identify a recoverable loss, that is the case regardless as to whether the claim is founded on a breach of privacy or competition laws."
