Darren Abrahams, Hannah Widemann, and Gyöngyi Dávid authored an article titled “Protecting Commercial Secrets” for Chemical Watch’s Biocides Hub. The February 21 article examines the protection of confidential business information under the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) in light of the mounting pressure on public authorities in the EU to increase transparency. This includes for instance information they hold as a result of submissions companies make in the context of chemicals pre-market approval. In particular the amendment to rules on disclosure in risk assessment in the food chain and the Agency’s update on biocides information disseminated are a hint of what may be around the corner. Now is a good time to understand the extent of your rights (and remedies) on protection of business sensitive information on biocides.
