Overview
(June 23, 2021, Washington, DC) — Steptoe has obtained another victory for Technical Consumer Products (TCP) in a long-running patent dispute with competitor Lighting Science Group Corp. (LSG) over LED technology.
In early 2020, in a proceeding where TCP challenged patent claims that had been asserted against it by LSG, Steptoe’s team obtained a ruling at the Federal Circuit that several of the challenged patent claims were invalid. The appellate court remanded the case to the US Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) to determine the validity of the remaining claims.
On June 14, the PTAB handed TCP a full victory, finding all challenged claims unpatentable.
The Steptoe team that represents TCP in this matter is led by Chicago partners Stacie Hartman, John Abramic, and Katherine Johnson.
