Overview
Utility Dive quoted Hunter Johnston in a May 25 article titled “Congress, DOE Continue Carbon Capture Push, But Utilities Wary.” The article discusses how carbon capture technology is touted as a way to reduce the emissions of fossil fuel burning power plants, but comes at a high cost. While other industries are interested in using the carbon capture incentive, utilities aren’t very interested in 45Q.
Johnston says, "I doubt you're going to see wholesale adoption of carbon capture at every coal plant in the country [because of the 45Q] but it is an enormous first step."
