(February 8, 2018, Washington, DC) — Steptoe partner Pantelis Michalopoulos has been named the sole 2018 Client Choice Award winner of the Telecommunications category for Washington, DC. Established in 2005, Client Choice recognizes those law firm partners around the world that stand apart for the excellent client care they provide and the quality of their service. This year, the Client Choice program received more than 2,500 nominations.
The Client Choice program is run by Lexology and the International Law Office and is based on votes from in-house counsel. The research begins with a readership survey of in-house counsel subscribers to International Law Office and Lexology; organizers then gather feedback at several international in-house counsel events and conduct follow-up interviews.
At Steptoe, Mr. Michalopoulos co-leads the firm’s Regulatory and Legislative Department and leads the “Regulatory Supergroup.” His practice is focused on representing new technology disruptors competing with old technology incumbents in the Internet and telecommunications space. In two precedentially important court of appeals cases, he has led the team successfully challenging the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) broadcast flag and plug-and-play rules. Together with Internet, Telecom and Media practice leader Markham Erickson, he has successfully litigated the two net neutrality appeals on behalf of the online industry, defending the net neutrality rules in support of the FCC. Mr. Michalopoulos has been recognized for his work in telecommunications by the legal directories Chambers and The Legal 500 as well as Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers.
