Linda S. Stein is a partner in the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP. Ms. Stein's practice has focused on civil litigation, primarily involving railroad contract disputes and oil regulatory disputes. These disputes have been brought in various forums, including state and federal trial courts, as well as arbitration proceedings. Ms. Stein has also represented a pharmaceutical benefits management company in several class-action lawsuits and arbitration proceedings involving ERISA or breach of contract issues.
Ms. Stein has represented railroads in railroad regulatory proceedings before the Surface Transportation Board, including merger proceedings, railroad line construction and crossing proceedings and rail rate reasonableness proceedings. Much of this work has involved an analysis of environmental impacts under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Her practice has also included numerous appellate court proceedings involving the interpretation of statutory provisions and constitutional issues. In addition, her practice has involved the investigation and defense of whistleblower claims before Congressional committees and the Department of Labor.
