Please join members of Steptoe's Financial Services and Government Affairs & Public Policy practices for a complimentary webinar organized by the FIA Law & Compliance Division.
Date: Thursday, May 18, 2017
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. ET
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will address a wide range of issues in 2017. Much of the CFTC’s work will be impacted, directly or indirectly, by the legislative branch.
This webinar will explore the relationship between the CFTC and Congress, explaining how prior legislation (like the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 and the 2010 Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act) and potential future statutory amendments (including Commodity Exchange Act Reauthorization and the Financial CHOICE Act) impact the Commission’s operations. The presenters will also discuss the Senate nomination confirmation process, Congressional oversight powers, and budgetary maneuvers that dictate funding levels for independent agencies.
