On November 19, 2025, The Steptoe Coffee Club for Women in Law hosted a virtual panel discussion on the power pause, otherwise referred to as taking a sabbatical or leaning out.
Gulzar Babaeva, Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, Energizer, engaged with three leading lawyers who have taken or are currently taking pauses in their careers: Christine Castellano, Retired EVP, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, The Andersons; Karna Nisewaner, Former SVP, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, Cadence Design Systems; and Jaimala Pai, VP, General Counsel, Anteris Technologies.
Partner Cáitrín McKiernan and associate Caroline Covington facilitated the event. The Club brings together legal luminaries for fireside chats before intentionally small audiences of in-house counsel.
