Overview
Adam Hoock is an associate in the Commercial Litigation group. He practices in all areas of complex state and federal commercial litigation with a focus on financial services, including matters involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Truth in Lending Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and similar state statutes.
Adam has experience handling a wide range of state and federal commercial litigation matters involving complex insurance coverage disputes, bad-faith actions, tort claims, breach of contract, business torts, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, healthcare industry disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, and challenges to international arbitration awards. He also has drafted briefs for matters before state and federal appellate courts and drafted a petition for writ of certiorari before the United States Supreme Court. Adam also maintains an active pro bono practice.
Prior to attending law school, Adam was an associate instructor of Spanish at a large state university for two years. He subsequently devoted two years as a fulltime AmeriCorps volunteer paralegal in Miami, Florida, where he assisted a team of lawyers at a non-profit law firm who provided legal services to immigrant children, many of whom had suffered abuse, abandonment, or neglect.

Representative Matters
- Successfully negotiated dismissal of federal lawsuit against credit card issuer for claims under TILA and FCBA and for claims under state law.
- Prevailed on summary judgment in federal court on behalf of CGL insurer in lawsuit for equitable contribution brought by EPL carrier against CGL carrier arising out of an assault by a restaurant manager against an employee.
- Assisted client in all aspects of trial preparation in $22 million commercial first-party property claim and in reaching favorable resolution.
- Secured dismissal of third-party claims brought against owner of two residential towers by subcontractors on the basis of general contractor’s alleged breach of contract.
- Obtained administrative closure of removal proceedings for pro bono client and his two minor children who were affected by the family separation policy at the southern border.
