Overview
Sabra Messer's practice focuses on a wide range of complex commercial litigation, including matters involving contract claims, state and federal class actions, and issues arising under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act and Illinois' Biometric Privacy Act. Sabra also assists companies in conducting internal investigations and responding to government subpoenas. She has represented energy-sector clients in litigation and enforcement proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Sabra has extensive experience managing discovery and e-discovery, handling fact development and analysis, researching complex legal issues, drafting evidentiary and dispositive motions, preparing direct- and cross-examinations for fact and expert witnesses, and preparing key witnesses for trial. She also assists clients in navigating settlement opportunities by providing comprehensive analyses of data to inform strategic recommendations. Sabra also maintains an active pro bono practice and recently represented a client at trial, asserting claims relating to violations of Title IX .
Prior to joining Steptoe, Sabra served as a law clerk for the Honorable Michael K. O'Keefe of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where she was responsible for managing a trial-intensive felony docket and drafting orders on pre- and post-trial motions, including IRAA motions and emergency motions for compassionate release. During law school, Sabra was a judicial intern for the Honorable Patricia A. Millett of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
