Overview
Gas Daily quoted Dan Mullen in an article titled "New Leadership Seen Spurring Increase in Enforcement Activity at FERC, Other Agencies." The article discusses an expected uptick in enforcement activity at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other agencies under the Biden administration.
Speaking during a Steptoe webinar on January 14, Mullen said the current makeup of the commission will likely be strong on enforcement going forward. With the caveat that these are "crystal ball questions," Mullen, a former Division of Investigations branch chief in FERC's Office of Enforcement, said to expect "a real focus on compliance issues."
"Companies may want to just make sure their own house is in order," Mullen said, suggesting self-audits of tariff issues and compliance with regulations to "get your own house in order before you get caught."
