President Trump Addresses Joint Session of Congress: In an address to a joint session of Congress last night, President Trump promised tax reform but offered few details on his forthcoming plan. President Trump indicated that his plan would include a reduced corporate income tax rate and tax relief for the middle class. In his speech, President Trump also noted the “very high tariffs and taxes” imposed on American exporters, but stopped short of endorsing the border-adjusted tax advocated by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R – WI). President Trump also voiced his support for repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and expanded tax credits and health savings accounts as part of ACA replacement.
