Overview
Steve Barber focuses on high-stakes commercial, mass tort and product liability litigation. For the past 30+ years, Steve has been instrumental in building the firm's commercial litigation reputation as a "Tier 1" national practice according to U.S. News. Recently, he gained national acclaim in American Lawyer for winning a $171.6 million judgment after a four-week trial in a fraudulent transfer case in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. This followed a 9-figure settlement he obtained for a major manufacturer in a fraudulent transfer suit in Delaware Chancery Court. Both cases involved underlying breach-of-contract claims, as do many of Steve's financial fraud and commercial litigation cases.
Steve has substantial jury and bench trial experience, successfully trying complex cases throughout the country. He serves as national trial and coordinating counsel for a Fortune 50 corporation litigating concealment, conspiracy, and other tort claims arising out of the company's historic investigative efforts, research, and publications on various inorganic minerals. Steve has also litigated high profile product liability cases arising from chemical exposures and allegedly defective equipment and devices.
Steve is versatile, having litigated trademark infringement, patent infringement, administrative, zoning, insurance coverage, and legal malpractice cases. He routinely represents foreign-based companies in US litigation, and has litigated ancillary proceedings in Japan, Germany, Russia, and the Republic of Georgia.
Through aggressive dispositive motions practice and trial, Steve has prevailed in hundreds of cases in some of the most challenging jurisdictions in the United States.
