Christopher Bjornson, of counsel in Steptoe’s Washington office, represents domestic and foreign telecommunications clients, who provide satellite, Internet, wireless telecommunications, and video programming services, before the International Telecommunication Union (“ITU”), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and other government agencies.

Mr. Bjornson has extensive experience in major telecommunications transactions, complex licensing matters, regulatory rulemakings, and compliance matters.  Mr. Bjornson’s transaction-related experience includes coordinating FCC approvals for multi-billion dollar transactions, leading diligence and compliance efforts that have removed impediments to closing transactions, gaining expedited approvals for license transfers, and opposing major transactions.  Mr. Bjornson is a leader in the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) and a frequent industry panelist.

Mr. Bjornson earned a certificate from the Institute for Communications Law Studies and graduated magna cum laude from Catholic University.  During law school he was an associate editor of the Catholic University Law Review and a law clerk for FCC Commissioner Susan Ness.  Prior to law school, he was a consultant to state governments and held various policy and management positions in federal, state, and local government.
