Overview
Alex Ahkar focuses his legal practice on energy and infrastructure project finance. He represents financial institutions and lenders engaged in developing, financing, building, operating, selling, and acquiring complex, capital-intensive infrastructure projects, especially in the renewable energy generation, battery storage, and electric transmission sectors. He also advises electric utilities on negotiating operating service agreements.
Prior to joining the firm, Alex provided advice on corporate M&A, restructuring, sanctions, and international arbitration matters involving the US and Myanmar, as well as throughout Southeast Asia.
Alex graduated from Georgetown University Law Center as a Fulbright Scholar. He was also Vice President of the Georgetown International Arbitration Society (2020-2021).
Alex maintains an active pro bono practice representing victims of human trafficking and domestic abuse on immigration and family reunification matters.
