Overview
Gilana Keller focuses her practice on complex litigation matters with a focus on insurance and reinsurance matters and commercial litigation. Gilana represents companies in insurance and reinsurance disputes, pending in state and federal court and before arbitration panels. These disputes have included representation of a leading life insurance carrier in arbitrations against reinsurers involving yearly renewable term (YRT) life reinsurance agreements and environmental insurance coverage.
Gilana also represents financial institutions in litigation, regulatory, and enforcement matters. Gilana has defended clients in connection with commercial business disputes and retail banking operations. She has also represented businesses in commercial real estate disputes and in CERCLA litigation.
Gilana maintains a dedicated pro bono practice. She co-authored multiple amicus briefs on behalf of reproductive rights organizations and lawmakers to the Supreme Court and appellate courts. She represents Afghan asylum seekers, and advises parents facing child support and custody issues. Gilana is also an active member of the New York City Bar, where she is a member of the Task Force on Civic Readiness and the Education & Law Committee.
