Overview
Matt Sim is a seasoned intellectual property counsellor with extensive experience in patents. He has represented clients in patent litigation before the US International Trade Commission, the US District Court, and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Matt has a wide-ranging skill set that covers many aspects of patent litigation strategy and preparation.
In addition, Matt has managed intellectual property portfolios and prosecuted patent applications. He has provided clients with valuable advice regarding the filing of both domestic as well as foreign patent applications, analyzing freedom to operate, clearance, and potential licensing issues to align with strategic business and commercialization goals.
With a background in electrical engineering, Matt provides expert guidance in matters related to a broad spectrum of technologies including computing hardware, software, semiconductors, batteries, biomedical devices, fintech, and artificial intelligence. His experience also extends to display technologies such as OLED, LCD, PDP, touchscreens, and computer peripheral displays.
Previously, Matt spent more than 12 years at the US Patent and Trademark Office, focusing on computing and electrical technologies. His roles ranged from an examiner to training new recruits and assessing patent quality issues with the Technology Quality Assurance Specialist group.
Before his legal career, Matt was a quality and reliability engineer at a leading South Korean electronics company. During his tenure, he worked closely with product design engineers to develop and test display systems.
